THE BOWER FAMILY IN HAITI

Maranatha Christian School
Ecole Chrétienne Maranatha
Lekòl Kretyèn Maranata

We founded this school on Christian principles with a desire to include simple Bible teaching with standard academic curricula. Our objective is to well educate children in a safe Christian environment, equipping them to serve God with all their being. Our own children attend this school alongside Haitian children.

The Christian school is now administrated by the Peart family. The Pearts moved to Haiti in 2006 as missionaries and live on the Maranatha campus. Their ministry includes seminary, elementary school, and high school ministries on campus, but church planting and other elementary schools in the surrounding area.

Adult Literacy Program
Ministry Description and Objective
- It is our desire the put God's Word in the hands of the Haitian people. Unfortunately, 55% of Haitians are illiterate (UNICEF survey). In our area, because we are in the country, the illiteracy rate is higher than the national average. The Adult Literacy School uses a three year curriculum that begins teaching adults to read and write in the first year. The program continues, over the next two years,  to help the students prepare for the sixth grade state exam using an accelerated curriculum combined with Bible memorization and teaching.
Our Adult school meets on the Maranatha campus 2-5PM, Monday through Friday during the school year. At the present time we have two teachers employed teaching in the school.

Location - Maranatha Campus, Habitation Walondry, Section Sanyago, Commune St. Raphael, Département du Nord

Staff / Personnel - Daniel Cidalmé, Gutho Moncette

Students - Various stages of adult learners

Curriculum - A government established alphabetization curriculum is used as a base curriculum, but it is supplemented with Bible studies and lessons to give spiritual support and encourage the students to give their lives to Jesus Christ.
