Statement of Faith
We are independent and baptistic in doctrine. The following is a list of teachings we adhere to.
1. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration and final authority of the scriptures in all matters of faith and practice. We believe the original manuscripts were inerrant (Matt. 5:18, 2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).
2. We believe in one God who eternally exists in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are co-existent and co-eternal (Genesis 1:1-2, John 1:1).
3. We believe in the Absolute Deity of Jesus Christ and His Virgin Birth. He shed his blood as an atonement for sin, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into heaven where he is our Intercessor (John 1:1, 1 Tim. 2:5).
4. We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin, indwells and seals the believer and assists in daily sanctification (Romans 8:26).
5. We believe that the Holy Spirit used the charismatic gifts in the church during the time of the apostles to authenticate the gospel message: However, He stopped using these gifts, when the canon of the Bible was completed in the first century. Healing and speaking in tongues are among those charismatic gifts (1 Cor 14:40, 1 Cor 13:8-10, Rev 22:18-19).
6. We believe that creation was by the direct act of God (ex nihilo), and that God created man in His own image. Through Adam’s sin the human race became sinners by nature and choice and cannot save themselves (Genesis 1:1).
7. We believe Adam, although created perfect, became a sinner by choice, bring death and the curse upon the whole world. As the descendants of Adam, we are all sinners by choice and by nature. Without the convicting and drawing work of the Holy Spirit, we would remain "dead in trespasses and sins" (Eph 2:21, Rom 5:12-21).
8. We believe that salvation is by the grace of God through faith alone, and not by merit or works. Salvation is a gift from God and cannot be earned (Ephesians 2:8-9).
9. We believe in the personality of Satan, who is the enemy of God and man. He was defeated when Jesus Christ died and shed His blood on the cross for sin. Believers can claim that victory (2Cor 4:4, 1John 5:15).
10. We believe in the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation return of Jesus Christ for His church. After the 7 years of judgement that takes place during the Tribulation, Jesus will return again with his saints in the battle of Armageddon. Jesus will then establish His Kingdom and reign one thousand years on the earth (1Thess 4:16-17).
11. We believe that the New Testament church began on the day of Pentecost and is the body and bride of Jesus Christ. The universal church includes all New Testament believers. The local church is an organized body of believers who practice the scriptural ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Table, and endeavor to fulfill the demands of the Great Commission (Matt 16:18).
12. We believe that there is a distinction between the New Testament church and Israel. Israel is God's covenant people of the Old Testament, through which we have received the Messiah. The Old Testament promises to Israel that have yet to be fulfilled, will not be fulfilled through the church, but will be fulfilled literally through the nation of Israel. The New Testament church is made up of both gentile and Jewish believers who have entered into the new covenant with Jesus Christ by faith since the inception of the church on the day of Pentecost (Gen 28:13, Gen 12:3, Rom 11:26-27, Ps 105:6-11).
13. We believe in the everlasting, conscious suffering in Hell for the lost, and the everlasting blessedness in Heaven for the saved (Rev 20:10,15).
14. We believe in personal separation. As Christians we are to pursue holiness by imitating Jesus Christ. We are to run away from any activity that hinders spiritual growth and development. We believe that daily prayer, Bible study and communicating one’s faith are a necessary part of becoming a mature Christian (Psalm 1, Rom 12:1-2, 1 Cor 5:11, 2Tim 3:5, 1Tim 6:3-5).
15. We believe in ecclesiastical separation. We believe that the church should pursue purity and freedom from doctrinal error. We are not to affiliate or join with other churches who teach errant doctrine. We believe in the autonomy of the local church. As the body of Christ, Jesus is the head of the church. We are not to affiliate or join with organizations who replace Christ's headship with man or organizations. We believe that during the time of the Tribulation, the devil will use an ecumenical movement to unite all world religions to build the One World Church of the Antichrist. The church is to avoid such organizations or affiliations (Rom 16:17, 2Cor 6:14-18, Gal 1:6-10, Rev 13:12-17).
